An inspiring, informative exploration of the principles and practice of Permaculture Design. Learn a simple, commonsense approach to creating healthy, sustainable and productive systems.

Course Content

Ethics, principles and design methods and how to apply them to organic growing, soil, building, energy, community, waste reduction, local economy and sustainable living. Practical how-to tutorials, inspiring case studies and participatory workshops, activities and discussions. Field visits give you the opportunity to see Permaculture in action in a range of pioneering and innovative settings. The course culminates in real design projects on local sites of your choice.

6.30pm to 9.30pm 12 Thursday evenings from 10th January to 28th March 2019

 

Course Structure

1 Thursday evening sessions + 2 weekend classroom days  + choice of 3 weekend field trip days + 1 optional practical day + a group design project in your own time. Total 72 hours.

Dates and details of the visits to choose will be available from mid-November 2018.  including;  Ecovillages, Intentional Communities, Farms, Eco-buildings, Community projects, Orchards, domestic gardens, Community Supported Agriculture and others.

 

Learning Outcomes

nderstanding of the principles, ethics and practice of Permaculture Design.

Experience of practical design solutions to apply to your own house and garden or community environment projects.

Practical methods to minimise your ecological impact.

Make links within your community and participate in positive changes.

Signposting to further study, volunteer opportunities, local and regional networks.

 

Accessibility

The course involves outdoor activities and walks. Please contact us before booking to discuss any special requirements. The course venue has full wheelchair access. We can advise on accessibility of field trips and will do our utmost to accommodate everyone where possible.

Fees

Full waged £425,

Low waged (Household income below £13k p/a including tax credits/dependants etc ) £325

Unwaged (JSA or other benefits) £145

Concessionary Fees

Low wage concession = household income less than £13,000 p/a including tax credits.

In very special cases we can arrange payment in 3 instalments. Please request this before booking. 

To request a concession or instalment arrangement please send us a Concession Request form. We will email you an authorisation code to use for your booking. 

Concessionary places are limited so please book early to secure your place.

Additional Costs

You will need to pay your own transport costs, any overnight stays and food on field trips. We car-share, cook communally and stay in low-cost accommodation. All visit costs are stated in the course welcome pack,
