We believe that we are about to face unprecedented challenges on many fronts with climate change and peak oil affecting almost every aspect of the way of life we're used to. We also believe that with right kind of thinking and some informed collective action these difficult times could be the making of us. '
With less access to cheap fossil fuels lots of basic things will have to change. Thinking about where our food comes from, how we travel, where we work, how we build and heat our houses is just the beginning.
There are a growing number of people and organisations looking at the possibilities and working out how we might do things in a less destructive, less wasteful more creative and sustainable way .
We recognise that our generation is quite probably the most useless that ever walked the earth. We might be fantastic at computer games and telesales but most people haven't the first clue about growing food, baking bread, building a house or darning a sock. We're also seriously lacking the vital skills needed to work collaboratively and make decisions and deal with conflict collectively. But we have time to improve this situation.
Shift Bristol aims to get people thinking, get people learning and encourage people to share the skills that matter with a view to creating sustainable, resilient, dynamic, productive and abundant communities who are ready for anything. Because lets face it....anything could happen from here on in......
